Are these jeeps good first cars?

I was looking for a wrangler until I found out that I could get a much better Commander in my price range. I found an 8 cyl 5.7 liter 4wd with navigation and backup camera all within my price range. I really liked this vehicle, but every time I find something I like my parents come up with everything bad and say that "we will wait two weeks and if the Jeep is still there then it's menat to be and we'll get it if you still like it." I know they're just being cautious, but in reality how many vehicles stay on the lot over a month, especially really good deals. So should I try and talk them into the Commander we looked at (I leave for a 2 week vacation in four days, so I'd like to get it now rather than wait, but they say we won;t do anything until after I get back from vacation.), or wait and find another one? The one we drove today was a fantastic vehicle, out of my price range but I think the dealer could easily drop a couple thousand. Thanks! Also, are Commanders good first vehicles for a guy? And do you think Yellow Wranglers are ugly?
