I Would Like To Be a Lab Rat?

That's exactly what one of my friends told me yesterday and at first I thought she was going crazy. But after strong points and much convincing I decided I'll look into it after all. Especially in my case now I think it would be a great opportunity. I recently lost my job and now trying to go back to school but bills still have to be paid. I want to be able to go to school full-time yet have income coming in here and there until I decide to go back to work. We've found some research centers but their way to far for us to make that trip. So.... are there any other research centers in New York, preferably closer to the Bronx, Manhattan areas?? Please and Thank You.
