Ipod nano 5th gen isnt recognized apple logo ...?

i just bought a used ipod off ebay and it said i need to replace the click wheel so i bought it for 17.00 when turn it on all i get is the apple logo but yet there is menu navigation and if i hit the right combination of buttons i can get it to play i checked under device manager and it shows the ipod as mass storage device and upon double clicking the usb device i get the error code the device cannot start (10) so apparently the click wheel does work but theres some other problem with it also i can get it into dignostics mode but hard reset doesnt do anything and disk mode doesnt apper in my computer please help!!!
